Leaked Memo May Indict Group Managing Director of the NNPC

Ibe Kachikwu, the minister of state for petroleum, has drawn the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari to the alleged malpractices and insubordination of the group managing director of the NNPC, Maikanti Baru.

In a leaked memo, dated August 30, the minister revealed the conducts of the Group Managing Director(GMD) of NNPC to the president, stating that the acts were counter productive to the country’s petroleum sector.

"Parastatals in the ministry and all CEOs of these parastatals must be aligned with the policy drive of the ministry to allow the sector register the growth that has eluded it for many years" Kachikwu said.

"To do otherwise or to exempt any of the parastatals would be to emplace a stunted growth for the industry."

Kachikwu said writing to Mr. president was essential because he denied access to him severally.
